About the Session

Crop production is by far the largest sub-sector, making nearly 90% of agriculture’s nominal GDP. The reason is very easy to see – no one can survive without food. Africa is competitively positioned to thrive in this sector. For example, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimated that Nigeria has 70.8 million hectares of agricultural land as of 2016 but only 40% of this is currently under cultivation.
This session provides a detailed context on the business opportunities in this value chain and provides insight on what is required to start a thriving agricultural enterprise.
