Nigerians are becoming increasingly health conscious and interested in nutrition and fitness. Our curiosity for achieving and maintaining weight loss is still unsated. It seems the medical, social, and financial costs of obesity have driven a persistent number of inquiries into the topic across sub-regions in the last decade. Other benefits of eating healthy such as heart health, reduced cancer risks, improved physical and mental performance, and weight loss have encouraged people to search for healthier nutrition options.

Dieting has carved a space for itself in Nigeria’s notoriously starch-based diet, with many embracing innovations like vegan Nigerian food, the keto diet, gluten-free diet, intermittent fasting, and rapid cleanses in a bid to fast-track weight loss and achieve attractive figures

This trend is having an impact on the variety and quantity of staple food items as well as fruit and vegetables being consumed and contributing to the growing popularity of new businesses focused on making access to health foods easier, and helping health-conscious people stay accountable to their health development goals.
