Business of Agriculture 1.0
The inaugural business of agriculture masterclass held from the 5th to the 7th of July 2021. It featured a series of virtual information sessions anchored by experts to spotlight opportunities available across various agriculture value chains and how to harness them for income generation.
Sessions
9 technical sessions were held across the 3 days of the event - 1 session dedicated to providing background and building a case for investing in Agriculture, and 8 sessions dedicated to uncovering opportunities across several sub-sectors in the Agric industry
THE BUSINESS OF AGRICULTURE IN NIGERIA
This session explores the immediate-, mid-and long-term opportunities for Agri Entrepreneurship to help potential entrepreneurs and investors understand its broad dynamics and potential.
THE BUSINESS OF NUTRITION & LIFESTYLE MANAGEMENT
This session uncovers the key requirements to start any business in agro product processing and shed light on the pitfalls to avoid when engaging in agro produce processing.
THE BUSINESS OF CROP PRODUCTION & BIOFORTIFICATION
This session uncovers the opportunities in the production and sale of bio-fortified arable crops (grains and pulses), cash crops (oil palm, cocoa etc.) and vegetables
THE BUSINESS OF ANIMAL HUSBANDRY
This session lays bare the business opportunities in raising livestock (with a specific focus on Cattle/goat/sheep Pigs and Poultry) and talk through the fundamentals for success in starting or investing in a business in this sector
THE BUSINESS OF AQUACULTURE
This session highlights the opportunities in the fisheries value chain and provides knowledge to participants on key requirements to start or invest in a business in the sector
THE BUSINESS OF AGRO-PROCESSING & VALUE ADDITION
This session uncovers the key requirements to start any business in agro product processing and sheds light on the pitfalls to avoid when engaging in agro produce processing.
THE BUSINESS OF AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY
This session exposes participants to the growing opportunities in Agtech and uncovers the key building blocks to start and run an Agtech business.
THE BUSINESS OF AGRO LOGISTICS & TRADE
There is a huge market in logistics (storage and transportation), wholesale, and retail of raw and processed agro produce. This session simplifies this value chain and highlights key considerations to account for in starting a business and thriving in this value chain
FINANCING FUNDAMENTALS FOR AGRIBUSINESS
This session takes participants through a 360 view of Agribusiness financing. - with emphasis on how to engage in Agribusiness financing, what financiers lookout for and what Agric entrepreneurs need to do for their business to become attractive to investors.
